I learned the hard way last year when I moved out of my apartment in Little Rock. I thought I was being organized by just throwing stuff into boxes room by room, but I ended up packing all my daily use items too early. For the last week before the move I couldn’t find my coffee maker, my phone charger, even my socks were buried somewhere. It was super frustrating because instead of feeling in control, I was constantly digging through boxes and messing up what I had already taped shut. Looking back, I wish someone had told me that there’s a strategy to what you pack first and what you leave for last.

Moving definitely teaches you lessons fast! I’ve found it helps to pack seasonal/decor first, then books, then kitchen extras—leaving a “last-week” essentials bin (coffee maker, chargers, toiletries, 5 days of clothes) clearly labeled and kept open. Color-coded tape per room also saves sanity on arrival. When I need a quick mental break from the chaos, I sneak a round of Slope Game—weirdly calming!
